Welcome Pack - 30.09.2008 COMPLETED [PICS]
Dear Medics,
A few members of PEPA are making welcome packs for the current first years. Last year the welcome pack was made by Nuwan, with a little help from myself, this year Nuwan, Adam and myself are making it, and we are getting help from others too.
Just today I managed to secure free printing of the welcome pack, at high quality, to be completed by the date provided above.
We know you have been here for a month already or perhaps longer for some of you, but then it is not possible to find out everything in one month.
One of the reasons we made this forum is to get your opinion, so we can give you what you want. Please tell us what you would like in the welcome pack. Not only will you make our job much easier but you will be making a better pack for future first years!
Thank you for your time, and thank you for reading. I hope you add whatever you can to this thread so we can make the welcome pack as good as possible.
Kind regards,
Russell

But I want it now!!
Oh, one more idea, if it hasn't alreayd been put in the welcome pack is to include the web address www.idos.cz as a resource for students who want to travel anywhere in Europe (to, from or within the Czech Republic).

Welcome Pack for first year students:
Hello Everyone,
My team and I have been working on a welcome pack for some time, and finally on October 2 (sorry, 2 days after our target) we managed to deliver 45 freshly printed welcome packs to the students in their chemistry class. We would like to thank everyone who has had ideas for the welcome packs in past years, and especially Nuwan, who effectively put all the foundations in place for the welcome pack's existence last year.
I personally would like to thank my partner for her contribution to the Czech Phrases, Mohan and Adam for various parts of the content, and again Nuwan, for guiding me in the production and formatting. Finally a big thanks to Taran Printing at Palackeho, for cooperating with us on a last minute printing job that probably most other printing shops would have rejected.
There is one error in the pack: the health emergency number. If you can find out from Bela, what number you should call, please please please write it in the pack and save it in your cell-phone.
Any comments, questions or criticisms, please let us know on this website. I hope the pack is useful for you.
Take care
Russell
P.S. below you can see low quality picture versions of each page of the pack:

tiny mistake maybe
To my knowledge, I think the email address for Jitka is no longer in use. But maybe you should ask her about it.
But the following are her alternative email contacts:
melcrovj@tunw.upol.cz or jitka.melcrova@upol.cz

oops...
Hey Dheena,
You're right - you know I just type JM in to my email and it mails her, so totally forgot that she had changed it. I really appreciate you taking the time to find that and post it, it is your kind of contribution that can improve PEPA products and services!
I will try to find a good way to correct it, perhaps a mass mail to the first years with an amendments list? What do you think?
If you find any other mistakes I would be really grateful. I don't know if this happens to you, but when I spend ages working on a document, I somehow miss out the glaring mistakes like the email address.
Thanks again for taking the time to write,
Take care,
Russ
